Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of work does Hatch Sports Therapy offer?
Hatch Sports Therapy provides clinical sports massage, deep tissue therapy, stretch therapy, Graston/IASTM scraping therapy, cupping therapy, kinesiology taping, and TMJ/headache-focused bodywork in South Ogden, Utah.
Sessions are designed for athletes, active adults, runners, cyclists, lifters, outdoor recreation enthusiasts, and people dealing with recurring muscle tension, stiffness, or movement limitations.
Is Hatch Sports Therapy a spa massage studio?
No. Hatch Sports Therapy is not a traditional spa or Swedish massage studio.
Sessions are focused, specific, and goal-based. The work is designed around movement, soft tissue tension, athletic recovery, chronic muscle tightness, and everyday function.
Do I need to be an athlete to book a session?
No. Many clients are runners, cyclists, lifters, skiers, hikers, golfers, and other active adults, but you do not need to identify as an athlete to book.
If you are dealing with recurring tightness, long work hours, limited mobility, training fatigue, or muscle tension that keeps coming back, this type of bodywork may be a good fit.
What is the difference between sports massage and deep tissue therapy?
Sports massage is often used to support training, recovery, mobility, and performance. Deep tissue therapy focuses on specific areas of muscle tension, restriction, or discomfort.
At Hatch Sports Therapy, the two often overlap. A session may include deeper pressure, assisted stretching, cupping, IASTM, kinesiology taping, or movement-based work depending on your goals and what seems appropriate that day.
How do I know which service to book?
If you are unsure, book the integrated sports and deep tissue therapy session.
Most sessions are customized, so you do not need to know exactly which technique you need before scheduling. We can talk through your goals at the beginning of the appointment and adjust the session from there.
Can massage therapy help with chronic neck, back, or shoulder tension?
Massage therapy may help some clients feel less guarded, move more comfortably, and manage recurring muscle tension. It is not a diagnosis or a cure.
If your symptoms are sharp, worsening, unexplained, related to trauma, or connected to a medical condition, it is best to consult a qualified healthcare provider.
Do you work with headaches, TMJ, or TMD?
Yes. Hatch Sports Therapy offers focused bodywork for clients dealing with jaw tension, neck tension, headache patterns, and TMJ/TMD-related discomfort.
This work may include the neck, shoulders, upper back, jaw muscles, scalp, and related soft tissue areas. It is not a replacement for medical or dental care, but it may be a helpful part of a broader care plan for some clients.
What is Graston / IASTM scraping therapy?
Graston and IASTM, short for Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization, use specialized tools to apply focused pressure and movement to soft tissue areas.
At Hatch Sports Therapy, IASTM may be used as part of a broader session when an area feels dense, tight, sensitive, or restricted. It is not used on every client, and it is not treated as a stand-alone quick fix.
What is cupping therapy?
Cupping therapy uses suction cups to gently lift the skin and underlying tissue.
Some clients find cupping helpful for short-term comfort, muscle tension, and mobility work. Cupping may leave temporary marks, and it is not appropriate for every person.
What is stretch therapy?
Stretch therapy uses assisted stretching, hands-on positioning, and controlled movement to work on mobility, stiffness, and movement quality.
It may be used for clients who feel tight through the hips, hamstrings, shoulders, back, neck, or other areas. The goal is not to force flexibility. The goal is to help your body tolerate movement more comfortably.
What is kinesiology taping used for?
Kinesiology taping may be used after bodywork to provide light support, improve body awareness, or help an area feel more comfortable during movement.
Tape does not replace medical care, rehab, or strength work when those are needed.
Do you work with runners and endurance athletes?
Yes. Hatch Sports Therapy works with runners, cyclists, trail runners, triathletes, skiers, hikers, and other endurance athletes throughout Ogden and Northern Utah.
Sessions may focus on calves, hips, hamstrings, quads, feet, shoulders, back, or other areas affected by training volume, terrain, work stress, and recovery habits.
Do you work with people who sit at a desk all day?
Yes. Desk work can contribute to neck, shoulder, upper back, hip, and low back tension.
Sessions may combine deep tissue therapy, assisted stretching, soft tissue work, and simple movement suggestions to help address the areas that feel most restricted.

How do I cancel or reschedule an appointment?

If you cannot find the original text or email, call or text 801-920-0813.
What is the cancellation policy?
Hatch Sports Therapy asks for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. This allows time to offer the appointment to another client.
If a cancellation occurs within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment, a fee equal to 50% of the service price may be charged.
If you miss your appointment without notice, also called a no-show, you may be charged the full price of the scheduled service.

Where should I park?
Enter through the gate and turn right. Park on the south side of the building, close to the Catholic Church.
Where do I enter the building?
Walk around to the west side of the building. The main entrance is under the large awning. Use the right-hand door.
Hatch Sports Therapy is on the main floor in Suite 205. After entering the main doors, you will see the main staircase. Walk past the stairs to the left side. The studio is on the left before the kitchen.
Should I wait outside the studio?

What should I wear to my appointment?
Please wear comfortable clothes that allow movement. Shorts and a t-shirt work well for most sessions.
For women, a sports bra usually works well. If the session will focus on your back, a snap-back bra may provide better access. If the session is not focused on your back, a regular sports bra is usually fine.
For men, shorts and a t-shirt are recommended.
Do I have to remove my clothes for bodywork?
No. Hatch Sports Therapy generally works with clients in shorts and a t-shirt.
At times, better access to the back muscles may be helpful. If so, you may be asked to remove your t-shirt, and you will be properly covered so only the area being worked on is exposed.
Do I need to shower before my appointment?
You do not need to shower immediately before your appointment, but please arrive clean.
I’m not feeling well. Should I still come in?
No. Please reschedule if you are sick.
Massage or bodywork may make you feel worse when you are ill, and coming in sick can expose your therapist and other clients. Even if it is within 24 hours of your appointment, please contact Hatch Sports Therapy if you are not feeling well.
Are walk-ins available?
No. Hatch Sports Therapy does not accept walk-ins.
If you need a same-day appointment, text 801-920-0813 to ask if any openings are available.
